In the UK the following educational institutions offer courses in Dental Radiography for Dental Nurses.
The British Dental Association has an 8 week course which teaches the theory of using X-rays safely & demonstrates the practical aspects of taking common dental radiographs. The course is designed to prepare you for the theoretical part of the NEBDN Certificate in Dental Radiography which entitles you to take radiographs in your practice unsupervised. Suffolk university in the UK offers a course in dental radiography
for general dental practitioners, dental nurses, dental hygienists and radiographers. This results in a certificate in dental radiography for those employed to carry out dental radiographs.
The course is both theoretical and practical and should enable the dental practitioner, to attain a level of competency in dental radiography in order to safely, efficiently and effectively undertake routine dental radiography. Coatbridge offers the Dental Radiography National Exam Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Certificate which provides dental nurses with the knowledge required to gain a qualification to take radiographs within the dental surgery. The course is 30 hours covering all knowledge requirements detailed within the curriculum in Dental Radiography as set out by the British Society of Maxillofacial Dental Radiologists and certificated by the National Exam Board for Dental Nurses.
